Bringing Technology to the Classroom: Our Mobile Computer Lab Reaches 650+ Students
Since launching in March 2026, our Mobile Computer Lab has partnered with six schools in Teshie and reached approximately 650 students with hands-on digital learning.

Since the launch of our Mobile Computer Lab in March 2026, Empower Communities Ghana (EmpoComm Gh) has been taking practical digital learning directly into community schools in Teshie, Accra.
What started with a simple idea — bringing technology to children who may not otherwise have access to it — is already making a difference.
So far, our Mobile Computer Lab has partnered with six schools and reached approximately 650 students, giving children the opportunity to move beyond learning about computers from textbooks or the classroom board and actually use, explore and learn with technology themselves.
From theory to hands-on learning
For many of the students we meet, using a laptop is a completely new experience. Our sessions provide them with practical opportunities to develop basic computer skills, including navigating a computer, using Microsoft Word, typing, creating documents and exploring the internet safely.
The response from students has been incredibly positive.
Some students have shared how excited they were to use a laptop for the first time. Others told us that they had previously learned computer concepts by writing instructions in their notebooks, but had never had the opportunity to practise them on a real computer.
These experiences remind us why access matters.
More than just computers
Our Mobile Computer Lab is not simply about putting laptops in classrooms. It is about creating opportunities, confidence and curiosity.
We want children to see technology not as something distant or reserved for those who can afford it, but as a tool they can use to learn, create, solve problems and shape their future.
As we continue to grow the project, we are also working towards introducing children to STEAM, coding, robotics and other future-ready skills through community school clubs.
Our journey has only just begun. With the support of schools, partners, volunteers and donors, we hope to reach many more children across Teshie and beyond.
Access to technology is not a privilege — it is a right.
